As the sun arose on the east side of Pearl's window, she stretched her arms out, put her feet in her slippers and headed downstairs to find her mother in the kitchen, holding a strange piece of parchment in her hand.
"Oh. I'm sorry. I couldn't help opening it." She was shaking with excitement.
"Opening what?" Peridot scratched her head in confusion and took the parchment out of her head. It read:

Dear Ms. Peridot,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

"Oh My Golly!" Pearl jumped up and down in excitement. "I'm a witch!"
"Yeah, honey. You are. The only thing is that you are going next year. Since you turn eleven after July 31. I hope you're not too unhappy." She twiddled her thumbs a little in anxiety.
"Of course not, mom. I'm just happy I got in, us being a family of Pure-Bloods and all. I know this is important."
